Through education, we aim to shape a future in which Germany thrives as a global hub for knowledge, innovation, and international collaboration.
CGU – Consortium of German Universities is a nationwide alliance of leading public and private universities in Germany. United by a shared commitment to academic excellence and the internationalization of higher education, CGU connects international students with outstanding study opportunities across a wide range of disciplines. These span from business, economics, and engineering to computer science, technology management, natural sciences, psychology, environmental sciences, and artificial intelligence.
As a consortium, we facilitate access to high-quality academic programs and create pathways that lead to meaningful careers and fulfilling lives in Germany. Through close collaboration with schools, universities, educational partners, and organizations worldwide, CGU serves as a bridge between global talent and Germany’s world-class higher education landscape.
We are guided by the belief in the transformative power of education and Germany’s distinctive role as a global destination for future-ready talent.
Mission
Our mission is to strengthen Germany’s position as a leading hub for education, research, and innovation by:

- Promoting academic excellence through expanded access to English- and German-taught programs across disciplines.
- Highlighting career opportunities in Germany’s dynamic labor market.
- Attracting and supporting top international talent for study, work, and long-term contribution to society.
Vision
Our vision is to connect the world’s brightest minds with Germany’s leading universities. We aspire to position Germany as the top global choice for international students – a modern, open, and forward-thinking country defined by academic excellence, opportunity, and diversity.

Study & Career Opportunities in Germany
CGU is founded on the conviction that Germany’s global reputation in higher education must be inclusive, innovative, and collaborative. In its efforts to align with DAAD, CGU seeks to promote an open and welcoming image of Germany to the world. Our international fairs are designed to include all stakeholders: local and regional DAAD offices, Goethe Institutes, German international schools, embassies and consulates, as well as German industry and companies operating in the countries where CGU activities take place.
Together, we aim to present Germany as a modern, inclusive, and globally connected study destination.

Membership Announcement
The CGU - Consortium of German Universities will convene a meeting of its founding members later this year. Following this gathering, we will announce the first group of full and associate members.
At this initial stage, CGU intends to maintain a select and limited membership, focusing exclusively on public universities for full membership, as the selection of private universities has already been completed. Associate membership opportunities for private universities may still be considered.
Universities interested in joining CGU are warmly invited to submit an expression of interest by email.
We look forward to building a strong, collaborative network that advances academic excellence and international cooperation.
