As the Federal Republic of Germany's globally active cultural institution, we foster understanding between Germany, Europe, and the world. Supported by the Federal Foreign Office, our non-partisan, legally independent structure ensures sincere, democratic dialogue, even in difficult times.

With 150 institutes in 99 countries, we offer a vast network for German language and education. We support over 100,000 schools worldwide, qualify German teachers, and see more than 750,000 people sit an exam annually.

The German International School Dubai (DISD) is a recognized, excellent German school abroad and a modern, innovative and learning school with heart and high quality standards.

From kindergarten through Primary School and Secondary School to the Deutsches Internationales Abitur (German A-level exam, DIA) the approximately 1000 students are developing into true global citizens. In the spirit of the DISD mission statement, they learn in a respectful and open-minded atmosphere.DISD offers an outstanding, inspiring learning environment with science laboratories, libraries and modern sports facilities that meet the needs of students in all areas. It promotes the unique German engineering spirit and strives for STEM excellence (mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology). All classes at Primary School and Secondary School work with the latest IT technologies, using an innovative, evidence-based approach. DISD's students thrive in a multilingual environment, developing into true global citizens, with German as a core competency. Many of the students reach the level of a native speaker in English and Arabic, in addition to German.

The German school in Dubai was founded in 2008 and is located in Academic City. Lessons are taught in German according to the Thuringian curriculum. In addition to the Abitur, DISD also awards the Hauptschulabschluss and Mittlere Schulabschluss.

Hamburg and the Gulf Region are moving closer together from day to day. An important player in this connection is the Dubai based Hamburg Representative Office which is responsible for the Gulf Region. It was founded in 2006, the same year the Emirates flight route was opened between Dubai and Hamburg. The office represents the Government of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, Hamburg Chamber of Commerce, the Port of Hamburg, and Hamburg Tourist Board.
Our overall aim is to foster economic relations between the wider Gulf Region and Hamburg. Therefore, our office acts as initial contact for Hamburg companies and institutions wishing to set up businesses in the region. Our services include addressing inquiries from Hamburg regarding the local markets. We also support local companies who wish to set up business in the city of Hamburg which offers a large variety of opportunities. In our office you can get firsthand information and we provide our clients with effective Hamburg contacts.
Our office also acts as liaison contact between Hamburg and local government agencies and public institutions. Through our long-standing network, we monitor market developments, develop joint strategic projects, and identify business opportunities between the regions. A special focus lies on the maritime, aviation and aerospace industry, logistics, healthcare and life sciences and hydrogen economy.
Furthermore, we actively support the CGU - Consortium of German Universities and promote Hamburg as a Centre of Excellence for Education and Training as well as the major business & trading hub of Northern Europe.
